Immediate Need for a Quiz Night question writer
The team's head writer is responsible for assembling and editing the trivia questions for each month's Quiz Night, in four distinct categories of ten questions per month. Categories are varied, and typically include things like current news and events; sports; tv, movie and music; celebrities; and maybe history or geography. Fun categories. Categories are given clever names as advance hints of the content to contestants, posted on the club website.
The typical Quiz Night audience is a group of teams, 12-18, many who have been coming regularly for years, so questions need to be regularly fresh. Also, the "degree of difficulty" is intended to be "an average score for the average team", with a target of 7 of 10 in the typical round. A couple of fairly obvious questions with a couple of challenging ones.
Questions should be as short as possible, clearly worded, possibly contain some context clue, and have one precise answer not subject to confusion or interpretation. Answers should be one or two words, and preferably not hard to spell or pronounce.
A record of past categories and questions is saved to avoid duplicating past ones unless they're revised or updated. Frequently categories are written in the form of a "puzzle page", with lists of matching items or identifying something from pictures ("Name the movie the pictured character is in", eg).
The writer doesn't have to work alone, but should use other members to evaluate and edit categories and questions. Ideally questions should be ready about a week before Quiz Night.
