The Celtic Service Award

The Celtic Service Award was founded as a way to celebrate and honor high school students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service and have an Irish heritage or connection to the Irish community.

This year, we are offering four awards to help further the ability of a junior or senior in high school to pursue higher education at a 2- or 4-year institution or a trade school. 

The award amounts are $2,500, $1,500 and two awards of $500.

Applications will be accepted from December 1, 2020 to March 1, 2021.

- Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in High School in the western suburbs
- Irish heritage or connection to the Irish community
- Intention to pursue high education/training
- Completion of Application by March 1, 2021

Your submitted application will be reviewed and if you are selected for a phone interview, you will be notified. The recipients will be presented with the award on St. Patrick’s Day 2021.


Congratulations to our 2020 Award Recipients!

Lucia Wileman - $1,000 Celtic Service Award

Lucia is a senior at Rosary High School. She lives in Naperville and has seven brothers and sisters. Her Irish heritage is a gift from her mother’s side, where her family hails from County Tyrone, Ireland. Lucia is a busy high school student who is on the swim team and serves as a Dominican Preacher at school. She volunteers with several community organizations and plans to major in Engineering next year. She has been accepted to multiple colleges and intends to continue her community service while at school. During her down time Lucia earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA.
Karly Keating - $500 Celtic Service Award

Karly is a junior at Benet Academy. She lives in Elmhurst and is the oldest of four children. Her grandmother comes from County Kerry. Karly is an accomplished student athlete who makes time to serve her community. She enjoys volunteering at work camps that benefit residents in underprivileged areas. She also helps to foster a love of athletics in children with disabilities through her work in Access Sports. Karly has been recruited and committed to Northwestern University for Lacrosse.
